Most Memorable Project: My Brother's Wedding

I have mentioned briefly all the projects that I have taken up in school with the opportunities that I was given. This project however is close to my heart as it involved the planning of my one and only brother's wedding. Being 9 years younger than my brother, I was extremely grateful and touched that my brother involved me in the planning and provided me with responsibilities as he trusted my capabilties.

An Indian wedding is an event that does not end in a day but rather stretches over a week of activities.
To add on that, we had 2 weddings which was done in the Hindu as well as Sikh customs. Both weddings were done consecutively on 28th May 2010 and 29th May 2010 Hence, a lot of preparation was required. For the weddings,
  • I arranged the Million Bus Transport, bus transportation to the temple for our guests
  • I liased with Yee Florist for the necessary bouquets as well as car decoration that was required.
  • I purchased the essential prayer item required by the priest
  • I helped out in errands, such as liasing with other key people like the hotel staff, that were required by my brother

Most importantly, my role was prominent during my brother's wedding reception that was held on 29th May 2010 at Holiday Inn. Right after the wedding at 6 pm, we had the much awaited wedding reception held at 8pm. A maddening rush was in the air but at the same time it was crucial to make this a success and indeed it was. For the reception,

I was the MC ( Master of Ceremony) along with Roshan, the bride's cousin. This experience was definitely a fruitful one and it was different from my past experiences as an emcee. This event mattered alot to my family and all the more, the pressure of making it a success was high. Along with my brother's approval, I crafted out the MC script as well as the program outline of the reception.

During the reception, being the groom's sister, I was given the honor of delivering a speech for my brother. An experience that I will never forget and due to which I shall post up snippets of my speech as well as myself in action as the emcee.
